Muslim Youth Summit Report

This year, we brought together young Muslims and a range of stakeholders together in Leeds to share their experiences, hopes, and challenges. The 2025 Muslim Youth Summit Report captures their voices and translates them into recommendations for local decision-makers. It covers topics such as identity, belonging, discrimination, youth services, and civic participation—ensuring young people are heard not just in conversation but in policy.

I AM Muslim Campaign

The I AM Muslim campaign was born out of the need to confront stereotypes and amplify positive Muslim identity in Leeds and beyond. Led by young Muslims, the campaign blends digital storytelling, public engagement, and community workshops. It invites participants to share “I am Muslim, and…” statements that reflect their complexity, agency, and diversity—moving beyond monolithic portrayals to show who we really are.

Purani Yaadein

Thanks to funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund, through this project, we as young people were attempting to retain this history in the form of stories, film, archives, and memorabilia and cascade this to our peer group and other sections of the community.
In charting this history, we aimed to give our community the knowledge and confidence to be proud of their heritage while still being confidently immersed in modern society today.
It will also be of interest to the wider, non-Asian community in recognising this aspect of local history in Leeds.
